SYNTAX Silicon Alley bound..
Middle East interactive pioneer launches New York office
Amman, July 8, 1999, New York.
SYNTAX Design+Interactive , the multidisciplinary, multicultural design and interactive media agency, has today announced its first move into the US market by opening an office in the city of New York.
The launch of SYNTAX New York marks an important milestone in the company's development. SYNTAX was originally launched in Amman, Jordan by a group of pioneering designers and technologists who have worked together since 1995. The company is one of the first in the Middle East to offer an integrated approach for the development of interactive solutions, including web site and application development, digital/multi-media, as well as traditional design and marketing communication services.
"We have always seen ourselves as a company that has the potential to operate on a worldwide arena," said Ahmad Humeid, Creative Director and co-Founder of SYNTAX. "We believe in the equalizing effects of the Internet. Using the net for collaboration and client servicing eliminates a lot of the costs traditionally associated with working for remote clients and enables us to transcend our geographic vicinity."
The New York presence will help SYNTAX reach its clients more directly and take its US business development activities to new levels. "We believe that direct human contact is an important aspect of establishing successful client relationships. That's why we feel that it is important for us to have a direct presence in the markets we are approaching," Humeid explained.
New York has emerged as the capital for Internet content and media. While Silicon Valley is building the infrastructure of the global network, it is New York's "Silicon Alley" that is creating the content, advertising, marketing, services and e-commerce. "We'd like to be part of this city's vibrant interactive scene," Humeid said.
SYNTAX D+I NY will be headed by Hasif Hijazi, an accomplished marketing communications executive with over 20 years of experience in the full range of marketing and operations functions with Marriott International, a Fortune 500 corporation, and a leading international advertising firm. Hijazi's experience included overall account management responsibility of such prestigious accounts as Citibank, Global One, Marriott and FastLink. Hijazi holds a B.S in Business Management and a minor in Mathematics and Music. He is a member of International Advertising Association (IAA), American Management Association (AMA) and Human Resources Professionals Association.
Elaborating on the advantages of having a direct presence both in the US and Middle East, Hijazi emphasized that "today's digital global economy presents both new opportunities and challenges. Companies have started to understand the potential advantages of being part of the digital global economy, and appreciate the positive impact it will have on their ability to compete and grow in the new millennium. Progressive organizations around the globe are quickly jumping on the interactive bandwagon because they know they can't afford to stay behind."
"We have developed a keen understanding of these new realities early on here at SYNTAX," said Hijazi. "In fact, our decision to open in New York today is a clear indication of the direction we are taking with SYNTAX. We view this major move as a stepping stone to building a global network through affiliations and partnerships. We have many reasons to believe that our new structure will galvanize our ability to service our clients effectively regardless of their location."
"Now that the developing Middle East region is completely wired to the net, we are having to deal with growing needs and expectations. SYNTAX NY will be the link which will ultimately arm us, and our diversified client base, with an array of valuable resources," Hijazi added.
